Small businesses are the life blood of the American economy. They produce over 50 percent of jobs created annually. However, in the Obama “jobs bill,” small businesses would be devastated.

In a speech Wednesday at The Heritage Foundation, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) explained that 75 percent of small business owners report their business income on their individual tax returns. President Obama wants to tax individuals making over $200,000, meaning that most small businesses in America would be facing a tax increase. This would be a huge blow to potential growth in an already anemic economy.

The Heritage Foundation understands the important role entrepreneurs and small businesses play in our country’s success. Heritage works hard to defend the freedom necessary for entrepreneurs to succeed.

If you are a small business owner or entrepreneur, you may have a unique opportunity to support Heritage’s crucial work while also receiving significant tax benefits.

Before you sell your business, please consider donating a portion of your equity to The Heritage Foundation. At the sale, Heritage will receive a generous gift and you will enjoy significant tax savings. (After all, if you could re-direct some of the money that is headed into the government’s empty coffers to a cause you believe in, why wouldn’t you?)

This kind of arrangement would reduce your capital gains tax and give you a significant charitable deduction.

In this tough economy, we may wonder how we can do more with limited resources. If you own a business and are thinking about selling it in the near future gifting a portion of that business to Heritage might be a great way to make a non-cash gift that benefits you and helps Heritage Save the American Dream for future entrepreneurs.
