Heritage’s 2019 Spring Interns concluded their program today. Here is what they had to say about their experience at Heritage:

“I loved absolutely everything about my internship! Instead of running around fetching dry cleaning and coffee, I spent my internship working on important projects that gave me real work experience. I also had so many opportunities to learn from policy experts, authors, and government officials, who taught me much about conservatism, American principles, and how to be a good person in a world that tries to turn you into the opposite… During my four months at The Heritage Foundation, I have discovered who I am, what I stand for, and how to go forward to fight the good fight.”

– Samantha Michon, Kuchta Family Intern

“This internship has been enlightening, fulfilling, and, overall, wonderful. It’s an experience that forever will be engraved in my memory.”

– Miguel Pontifis, Caesar Arredondo Intern

“Between speaking with Heritage members, co-workers, and important conservative leaders in my day to day work, I’ve garnered a strong network going forward.”

– Dwayne Clark, Sidney A. Swensrud Foundation Intern

Please send your best wishes to the 2019 Spring Intern Class! As these young conservatives go out into the world, what advice do you have for them?

CONGRATULATIONS on being part of a great learning experience. Hold to your values and stand to your challengers. Remember that sometimes you’ll be the only Boy Scout, on the whole field, IN step! March On!

David Zittin - April 19, 2019

I tried to say do something good, but I am not optimistic. I was going to say something to the effect of listen to those who do not share your views and try to change hearts and minds. However, in today’s world there is a lot of irrational viciousness that comes from people who cannot defend their views objectively, but instead lash out and condemn those who do not toe their talking-point line. The problem is a deep seated cultural/political issue starting with public schools. Work to change this and work to help un-indoctrinate those who have been taught in Democrat-Union public schools. It’s a tough problem, but it has to be done. Schools are turning out unquestioning robotrons who have a disdain for this country and its Constitution. Young people need to be critical of what they are told. They need to base their opinions after taking in disparate viewpoints and learning how to be critical of ideas, something they do not get in public schools.
It’s a hard job. Are you up for the challenge?

Peter Newell - April 19, 2019

Congratulations on completing you Heritage internship!
The task ahead of you is huge. If we are to keep America from being fundamentally changed, as the left is promising, it will only be because you and young people like you have fought steadfastly to prevent it. Good luck and Godspeed!

Bill Coates - April 19, 2019

Read ‘The 5000-year Leap’ (W. Skousen) and ‘The Return of the God Hypothesis’ (Steven Meyer).

Carl Smith - April 19, 2019

I hope one of your Learned lessons is Truth is hard to find when so many, especially the News media, have a different Cross to bear besides the very Liberties they enjoy. I have taught my Grand Children that an Education is the Search for the Truth and its a JOURNEY Not a DESTINATION.

Russ Vansant - April 19, 2019

Congratulations to all graduates!

Study and memorize the 2nd paragraph of the Declaration of Independence;
“We hold these Truths to be self evident ….. deriving these just powers fro the consent of the Governed.

Pat Ellis - April 19, 2019

Young conservatives need to help the Republicans win in 2020! They would be best to write “Letters to the Editor” to every COLLEGE newspaper with appealing arguments against the policies of the Democrats – Medicare for All, Green New Deal, Abolish Electoral College, Lower Voting Age to 16, Pack the Supreme Court, Reparation for Slavery, Free College for All, End criminal penalties for illegal immigrants and let them pay into Social Security leading to citizenship. Everyone knows the COST is outrageously high, but other arguments should be made besides expense.
Young conservatives MUST talk with young voters and EDUCATE them!!!

Pat Ellis - April 19, 2019

David Zittin is soooooo correct!!! Our young conservatives need to EDUCATE the young voters of today!!!!!! Go into the school and talk about conservative ideas and/or how wrong the Liberal ideas are. You have to be appealing, not controversial.

Dwight Rager - April 19, 2019

Always master the basics which will provide a solid “FOUNDATION” in which you can build anything upon.

Linda Davel - April 19, 2019

You are the hope of the future….a future with morals and ethics, something that is being destroyed or vilified at every turn. Bravo, be heard, be brave and bold, be true to what is right. God bless you all in your life’s calling and personal one as well.

Arthur Olsen - April 19, 2019

God bless your work in the days ahead. Keep on keeping on.

Susan O’Rourke - April 19, 2019

Today’s life is a challenge. People opposed to your beliefs and ideas will try to change them in your mind. You, however, know in your mind and heart that conservatism is the USA way. It produces more satisfaction, belief, and genuine compassion than other beliefs expounded in our country. Our Founders were incredibly wise men, so hang onto their beliefs. Your conservatism will always stand by you, and shield you from other failed ideas.
Congratulations to you all! What a grand learning experience you had. Keep on learning!! All the best!

Angie Bishop - April 19, 2019

Stand up! Save us! Spread the word! Thank you!

Kennedy J O’Brien - April 19, 2019

Congratulations and godspeed, class of ’19
Carry the torch of conservatism – it is the American value which champions and cherishes the Constitution. Conservatism allows all Americans to enjoy the freedoms our Founding Fathers bequeathed us. Defend the Constitution for God, family and country.

Charles - April 19, 2019

Best wishes and good luck !
Study the Bible and the classic works on politics and economics.
Put your faith in God.
Man is fundamentally flawed and insanely jealous.
Rejoice when you find one who can be trusted more often than not.
Always keep a pair of good dogs so that you will always have someone who loves you and gives you a reason to struggle against all odds.

Skye Alison - April 19, 2019

In addition to the excellent comments made by David et al, I want to say you have had an exceptional opportunity to have engaged with Heritage in a most intensive study. Congratulations! And may God keep His hand upon you for this time in the history of this great Republic.

rose rodano - April 20, 2019

Only in America is it possible for students
to be part a hands on experience.Kudos!!!!
My advice–do not be pressured to go along
with the “crowd” While you were the Heritage foundation, even though you had
debates, they were thought provoking
and respectable. I have always believed

Daniel F Sopher - April 20, 2019

With youth such as you ,there is hope.

James Rust - April 20, 2019

Your intern experience is of value the rest of your life. Use it to dedicate yourself to promoting honest work and a generous heart. America is the greatest country in the world and we need to continually train future leaders to maintain our position of leadership. No matter how dark the future may seem, keep a positive attitude and don’t despair.

Chris Rogers - April 20, 2019

Young conservatives move forward always remembering your convictions and never compromising them.

Johnny Northcutt - April 20, 2019

Dear Interns, What a great opportunity you’ve had to study and work with and under some of the great minds in the world. Please use what you’ve learned and go forward and let others know what’s right about this great country. Let people know that those on the left don’t give a hoot about this country. All they want to do is destroy it so they can have the power. Realize what you’ve learned and use it for good. Thank God for your four months at Heritage and good luck in all your future endeavors.

Jon Davis - April 20, 2019

God speed……I love what you are doing

Phyllis Eix - April 20, 2019

We praise God for each one of you, and congratulate you on your completion of the important activities of your internship. May it enable you to stand strong for the values we share, wherever your path in life takes you.

Julie Mack - April 20, 2019

You are the leaders of America’s future. Stand proud of your conservative beliefs knowing that individual liberty and the desire for freedom lives strong in the human heart. With today’s demonization of our core values – you’ll need to understand the Constitution and the intent of America’s founding. Godspeed – and thank you for carrying the torch for a new generation of conservatives!

Neil BURMEISTER - April 20, 2019

Go into the world and use your conservative values to do good. Don’t listen to the critics who may attack you. They have no message of value.
Good luck and best wishes.

Jerry Boone - April 20, 2019

You are the bright future of the greatest country this world has ever produced. Continue to fight the good fight for God, country, and freedom. You are critically needed at this tumultuous juncture in America’s history to save our hard won liberties, freedoms, and even our culture.

Sharon Kempfer - April 20, 2019

Congratulations! It is wonderful to hear that young people are learning what is so important. May you be instrumental in reaching others and teaching them the importance of conservative principles as we are being bombarded with lies.

Barb Kaper - April 20, 2019

Don’t let the world’s priorities $force you into It’s mold. Romans 12:1&2 I urge you, therefore, brethren, by mercies of God to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, Holy and acceptable to God which is your reasonable service of worship. Be not conformed to this world but be TRZNSFORMED by the renewing of your minds that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Terry Reuland - April 20, 2019

Never stop learning and be true to yourself. Be respectful but firm in your beliefs. We are proud of you.

Wayne Fisher - April 20, 2019

Dear outgoing Interns,
Stand firm and stand tall. Take what you have learned and apply it to all that you do in life.
God Bless you all,
Steve Nerison

Paul Wolf - April 21, 2019

The very, very best of luck. God Bless you. You’re going to be dealing with an indoctrinated generation, driven by manipulated emotions rather than facts. Stay the course…your country needs you desperately! Conservatism is the way! The only way if liberty means anything to you.

Vivian Brumfield - April 22, 2019

Your time at Heritage is absolutely priceless and should be remembered that way. My prayers for you all is that in whatever endeavor your life takes you, you will apply all that you have learned to the furtherance of keeping America the great country that our founders created. May God bless you in all that you do.

Marilyn Krzus - April 22, 2019

Congratulations to the outgoing internship class. You’ll all do well in your future endeavors–Heritage doesn’t hire people with no thinking skills. Do your best out there, and remember all you were taught. Remember that no matter how large the media prints a headline, it doesn’t make it true. Remember that conservative values were what this country was built upon–they have withstood the test of time and are worth defending. Good luck to all of you! We’re depending on you to spread the word!

Don Reiner - April 23, 2019

Good luck to all of you new graduates and congratulations; you’re our hope for the future.
