Earlier today, The Heritage Foundation’s Board of Trustees announced that Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) will replace Ed Feulner as Heritage’s President starting in April

Feulner and DeMint called in to Rush Limbaugh’s radio program this afternoon to discuss the news. Here’s an excerpt:

RUSH: Senator Jim DeMint. Why have you decided to retire from the Senate to take this on?

DEMINT: Rush, it was the Heritage Foundation that inspired me to run for Congress, and many of the policies I’ve developed, whether it be Social Security reform or health care reform, tax reform, Heritage has guided that policy development. And I believe that I can do more good for the conservative movement outside of the Senate in leveraging the assets of the Heritage Foundation to communicate a more positive, optimistic message to the American people.

The Heritage Foundation’s Lachlan Markay reported this week that President Obama has awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Dolores Huerta, a labor activist and honorary chair of the Democratic Socialists of America.

As Markay notes, DSA describes itself as “the largest socialist organization in the United States, and the principal U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International.”

This is a story the mainstream media declined to cover. But Heritage is getting the story out there regardless.

On his radio show yesterday, Rush Limbaugh read directly from Markay’s post. Watch the video:

What do you think of President Obama’s awarding the Medal of Freedom to Huerta?

Rush Limbaugh, shown here in 2009, addressed Heritage members at the Annual Leadership Conference last week.

Talk radio host Rush Limbaugh and three reform-minded conservative governors galvanized Heritage Foundation members at our Annual Leadership Conference this past weekend.

Limbaugh, who delivered the event’s keynote address, addressed a wide range of issues facing the conservative movement and the United States as a whole. He was introduced by a last-minute guest: Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, whose fight for budget and labor reforms has inspired conservatives.

Heritage also presented Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes with the Clare Boothe Luce Award, our highest honor. The award is presented each year to an individual who has made significant contributions to the conservative movement. Continue Reading »

Rush Limbaugh at the 2009 President's Club Meeting

During his radio program last week, Rush Limbaugh noted that this month marks the 100th anniversary of Ronald Reagan’s birth. He goes on to ask:

“What better way for conservatives to pay tribute to the Gipper than to pledge their support to his favorite conservative think tank, The Heritage Foundation?”

Listen to the Limbaugh clip, which includes a great quote from Reagan himself about Heritage (or download the MP3):

On a recent show, Rush Limbaugh cited The Heritage Foundation’s work to expose the dangers of the new START Treaty.

“I don’t need to tell you–because I have–that Heritage is all over this. You already know that,” he said. “But I want to share this with you because it’s a perfect example of the kind of work that Heritage does on our behalf, on behalf of the United States.”
