The Heritage Foundation has been “a key resource” since his 1998 election, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) told members of Heritage’s President’s Club on Monday in Dallas.
Heritage research inspired him to run for office initially, DeMint said. “I saw that someone else understood in research terms what I knew in real life, and they were translating it into policy.”
He noted in particular Heritage’s collaboration with him on the Index of Dependence on Government and other projects.

Prior to DeMint’s remarks, Heritage experts Bill Beach and Alison Fraser explained Heritage’s Saving the American Dream plan, which aims to get America’s fiscal house in order without raising taxes. Watch the video:

I have never heard the true vision for America, and the urgency of our political and economic situation, expressed so well as in Sen. DeMint’s speech. Thank you for presenting him, and for Heritage’s strength and support.
