The liberal attempt to convince Americans that President Obama’s policies have created jobs has hit another snag. This morning the Labor Department released August’s jobs report– and the numbers were dismal. Unemployment remains above eight percent.

The Heritage Foundation’s Amy Payne asks, “Have 4.5 million new jobs been created under President Obama, as several speakers in Charlotte have claimed this week?”

The answer is no:

A fact check shows that under President Obama, the U.S. economy has created a net 415,000 private-sector jobs—less than 0.2 percent of the 155 million-member American workforce. But even that statistic does not tell the full story, since the workforce itself has shrunk dramatically in size since Obama took office. Labor force participation is at 63.5 percent, its lowest level since 1981. In other words, a large chunk of Americans have simply given up looking for work. A significant number are collecting disability insurance instead, according to new research from Heritage’s James Sherk.

Earlier this year, Heritage’s David Addington outlined five steps conservatives can take to boost job growth.

Do you think President Obama’s policies, including the $1 trillion “stimulus” legislation, have led to job-creation?

What about the lateswt bill Obama signed to have the Chinese build our infrastructure? What was the amount, $50 million?

NO! Everything Obama has done, has been to slow-down and hinder job creation. Obama and his minions’ intent, from the beginning, was to marginalize America and her people.

Surely you jest!! And just wait now for the next attempt at “Quantitative Easing” (aka printing more money). With the lousy job report – it’s coming.

Keep up the good work at Heritage.

The most important statistic is how many people have left the work force which is at one of the lowest points since the early 1980′s. The Obama stimulus did not create jobs. Once you take into account how many people have stopped looking for work, you get the real unemployment numbers which are much higher than 8.1% reported for August.

his obamacare policy – has anyone addressed the new taxes. have not seen this – tax rate on dividends will go from 15% to 39.6%. seem high. irs says 70% of households over age 55 receive dividend income. yet, we will be only taxing the rich. sounds like someone is lying. how can you trust if they lie?????

4.5 million jobs “created” by the President? It is easy to pull figures out of the air but harder to offer concrete evidence of
that claim. so far, I have seen no evidence of it.

The only jobs this president has created are in his mind. Its not government’s responsibility to create jobs, its their job to protect and defend our Constitution. I only hope to see a government turn-around in my lifetime – probably not.

I think what is really important is for a clear and concise explanation of where the Democrats get the 4.5 million jobs created during Obama’s term and then repudiate that number. It doesn’t do any good for them to be saying 4.5 million and us to be saying 450,000 all that does is give Republicans and Democrats an opportunity to call one another liars. What we need to do is use their own numbers to crush them.

Based on all pertinent data, definately not!

The GOP needs to issue a white paper listing the major lies of the President, with correct figures and source.
If all the lies of the President would be listed it would add up to a ream of paper—to long to be easily readable.
