The Heritage Foundation has been a leader in educating lawmakers and the public about the negative impact of Obamacare and the importance of repealing the 2,700-page monstrosity.

Heritage experts are preparing for the coming fight. Here are some of the steps we will be taking in the coming weeks and months:

  • Fight for Repeal: Heritage is working with conservatives to devise innovative strategies to allow repeal. For example, Heritage experts have noted that since the Supreme Court deemed the individual mandate a tax, the Senate may have the power to vote for repeal with just 51 votes, avoiding a liberal filibuster.
  • Inform Lawmakers: The House of Representatives is voting on repealing Obamacare next week. Heritage and  our sister organization, Heritage Action, will play a central role in informing and educating members about the consequences of keeping Obamacare on the books.
  • Educate the American People: Heritage will continue to release cutting edge analysis of the 2,700 page law — analysis informed by the Constitution and conservative principles. Heritage will to inform both the public and the media about the impact and far reaching effects of Obamacare.
  • Promote Federalism: Heritage is now working with state leaders who are trying to resist Obamacare and institute better health care reforms.  This includes encouraging states to seek alternatives to Obamacare.
  • Develop and Promote Principled Solutions: Heritage has created and will continue to refine policies that will reform the health care system to provide quality care while protecting the nation from increased debt, higher taxes and ever more federal regulation.

What do you think is the best course of action against Obamacare?

At this point of time I would suggest obtaining control of the Senate and retaining control of the House wouid provide the best shot at “defanging” this law which will bankrupt the country. All both houses know is to spend, never mind the fraud that is rampant in so many of its programs-stop the bleeding before embarking on new “open ended” programs.

Debra - July 3, 2012

The best course of action is education. Nobody knows the awful things that are in this bill, like there is no cancer treatment available after the age of 76, and so on … If people knew what is really in the bill with somewhere to easily verify it, they would vote people into office that would overturn it.

Letha Fadely - July 3, 2012

If this is a tax and they said it is, then my position is, this is unconstitutional, because it takes both houses to impose a tax or pass a tax on the people. We have elected people who do not know the constitution and aren’t willing to uphold what is right.Article 1, Section7.
Thanks

Congressional leaders first need to develop some backbone. Then repeal will be easy.

Henry Harriss - July 3, 2012

You are doing exactly what needs to be done – educating
congress and the public about this terrible law.

Genie Smith - July 3, 2012

REPEAL
EDUCATE THE PUBLIC

Jim Davidson - July 3, 2012

I think it would be better to reform the current bill because it has already started and someone has to review what really should be thrown out and what should be left in. If Rommey continues with his REPEAL compaign he is going to get beat. No One Shoots Santa Clause!

Suzon Adam - July 3, 2012

Obama’s health care plan MUSY be repealed in its entiety.I think also that this attempt to deprive us citizens of our liberty should not be called “Obamacare.” Obama cares only for the power he has grabbed and continues to grab. He does not care for this country or its people.

bernhard muller - July 3, 2012

I wonder if it wouldn’t be better to repeal Obamacare via incrementalism. That is, modify this part, then that part, then the other part until the whole thing is acceptable (of course, virtually every single item will have to be changed). The alternative of complete repeal at once will leave us with the old system which everyone agrees was faulty, and make it even more difficult to come up with an acceptable plan. In addition, complete repeal will certainly lead to considerable foot dragging on the part of the considerable number of Obamacare supporters which will make coming up with a good plan from scratch even more difficult, and might perhaps even lead to repeal of this “good” plan when administrations change, as they inevitably will.

Curtis Conway - July 3, 2012

I think further discussion about the SCOTUS decision should be put behind us, and we move forward with the solution to our problem as suggested by the founders. Vote the bums (administration) out!

Keep it simple or you own the last “S”.

Charles E Gutha - July 3, 2012

Repealing Obama-care is an essential first step. Educating people as to how bad this is, is equally important. After all, we had a great system until government became involved.

We must role our federal government back to providing only those things listed in the constitution. Unfortunately, now with supreme justice saying that it is constitutional for the government to tax us for not doing something, we have a long fight.

The liberals have long used the 16th amendment for penalizing productivity. Now they are authorized to tax non-productivity. This amendment must be repealed. I am in favor of a national sales tax constitutionally limited to 7% retail, excluding food and clothing. This eliminates the IRS, encourages savings, gets the gov out of our pocketbook and thus our life.

This provides that “the rich” who buy more, pay more. It is non-punitive. It also encourages the government to pass laws beneficial to our economy. After all, if they pass laws destroying our economy, they will not have money to spend.

Renny Gazy - July 3, 2012

There is no recourse against obamacare or him himself! The consertative news media and the RNC are talking about many things! But the end result is, “HE GOT US!!” Looking to the election, I feel that if he is loosing by a 10 point margin, he will take it to court and draw the process out for another “two years!!” Is anyone looking at what this guy is doing and be honest, we can’t stop him. He is in control of the judicial branch, he doesn’t care about congress, he has his czars!! I am on my knees talking to the One who is truly in control, “OUR LORD!”

Eduardo Guzman - July 3, 2012

Dear Sandra,

I am a subscriber to the Heritage Foundation, and I really appreciate what you are all doing to preserve our heritage, the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and our way of life and freedom!

Regarding your third point; Educate the American People. The Heritage is a great think tank, with very well versed individuals in their different fields. The papers I read are great, precise and right to the point. But, without being offensive, the minority population in this country, by design, is poorly educated. (History teaches that for a totalitarian government to exist, it must have a high percentage of uneducated people.)

Your capacity to persuade poorly educated people is very difficult, and in most instances, almost impossible. Why? Because the politicians use their persuasive demagoguery to their advantage with lies and empty promises. These people want to believe, especially if you are offering freebies.

Heritage uses rational comprehensive arguments, charts and supporting data to prove their point. Thus, you have lost about 30% of the population, this can either win or lose an election.

Here is the Achilles heal for us. How do we make a program to educate the uneducated? Instead of charts and sophisticated data, what about using just the meat and potatoes of what is happening to our beloved country? What about going with the simple facts: Are you employed? Is your income better today than three years ago? Do you feel that you can be proud of your family if you are on welfare, receiving money form the government? This, of course, is not due to your own fault, but to this government’s policies. How will the government pay for all of their promises and entitlements? Where is the money going to come from? The rich? Yes, but how long will the government will be able to milk the very few reach people in this country compared to the general population? Eventually they will run out of money and we will end up like Europe, or any other third world country!

Just some ideas.

Thank you for your work, and may God continue to bless America!

Bill Fetzner - July 3, 2012

Show how Obamacare fails our nation whether based on a penalty or a tax. When financed by penalty, all are punished as if they’re negligent, but some don’t buy insurance because they’re self-insured, young and seemingly immortal, or bigger risk takers. As a tax, this is analogous but opposite to a sin tax by depriving personal property from those who don’t accept the government’s prevailing notion of civic duty or virtue. If the federal government can’t impose sin taxes (negative purpose), what gives it the right to impose a virtue tax (positive purpose)?

Dennis Sullivan - July 3, 2012

Elect Republican majority Senate, keep House and make President Obama one term. Even then it will be difficult to overturn. Let’s not be nieve.

David L Carlson - July 3, 2012

From what I’ve been told, defunding the bill by Congress and refusal, by the many states to participate will probably make it wither on the vine.
DLC

Joan McDaniel - July 3, 2012

I hope and pray we can elect, in November a Tea Party sponsored majority in both houses and POTUS. Not that will mean instant success at repeal. But, I think we better not only educate the public on the danger of the Health Care Bill, but educate ourselves on what to eat and what to do to stay healthy on our own. I don’t think Health Care will ever be the same in America Again.

Bruce Patterson - July 3, 2012

The only way to properly repeal Obamacare is to present logical alternatives.

Wholesale repeal will only confuse the public. Our candidate MUST offer alternatives.

Mike Budnick - July 3, 2012

The education of lawmakers is important. But the education of the public is crucial. Lawmakers, unfortunately, will generally only take the necessary steps if they are sure that the electorate is behind repeal and replacement. To gain the support and consolidation of the voter position, it will be necessary to:
1. Make the argument against ObamaCare in simple, straight-forward terms, that form a solid foundation in the minds of the public in order to counteract the inevitable sound bite attacks from the opposition.
2. Set up a quick response team and methodology to quickly and accurately counter attacks by the repeal opposition. This may require “taking the gloves off” — an action that has been avoided in the past to our detriment.
3. Provide easy to understand explanation of alternative legislation that will assure the public that the real health care problems will be addressed.
4. Find a trustworthy spokesman that is not a politician/pundit to promote the alternatives in a “believable” fashion.

Leo Scully - July 3, 2012

I believe the best way to eliminate “Obamacare” is to develop the replacement plan, showing how it is possible to improve the current system without bankrupting the country, still allow personal responsibility and decisions and not create the mega-bureaucracy in the current law. It will probably need to incorporate some of the items that have been included in the current plan to obtain acceptance by the public. There are many stakeholders involved and they will all need to be considered in the final product. After the plan is well developed, it will need buy-in by many open-minded national groups who can help sell the complete replacement bill to the public. Then the current “Obamacare” can probably be repealed and the new one passed. This is a simplistic description but there are too many areas that must be considered to be covered here. Thanks for the opportunity to comment. Leo Scully

Bob Wolfe - July 3, 2012

Obamacare MUST be repealed and replaced!
It would help Romney to remind people how it got massed—in the dead of night buying votes of LA, NE and others.

It would do him good if he would tell people his plan–like yours!

Tom LoGrasso - July 3, 2012

I believe that Chief Justice John Roberts should be impeached for neglect of duty. His sworn duty is to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. His ruling violates the Constitution in two ways. First the Constitution does not allow the Supreme court to make or change legislation therefore the healthcare law should have been ruled unconstitutional and sent back to the congress. Second the Chief Justice created a new tax. There are only three that are allowed under our Constitution and the Chief Justice does not have the authority to create a new tax under our Constitution. Taxing someone for not doing something does not exist in our Constitution.
Neglect of duty is an impeachable offense. Violating the Constitution is treason and the consequence should be as severe as possible.

In addition to the 5 bullet points noted in the article “Heritage’s Next Steps in the Obamacare Battle,” state governors should be encouraged to act aggressively and immediately to announce their refusal to implement the expansion of Medicaid sought under this highly unpopular law, including refusal to implement healthcare exchanges. While this may be akin to the “Promote Federalism” bullet point, it covers specific steps that may be acted on right now, without lengthy exploration of other alternatives.

Ramona Maekask - July 3, 2012

All of the above particularly educating the public how devasting this is to this wonderful country of ours which will never be the same with Obamacare and all the rules, regulations and taxes. Vote OBama OUT

Gravelyvoice Jim - July 3, 2012

On March 8, 2011 a bill was brought up by John Boehner for a vote in the House of Representatives. This was one of the early bills brought to a vote by the new Republican House Speaker. The bill, if eventually passed into law, would have expanded Obama Care. Red State reported it, the mainstream media, including FOX News, did not.
http://www.redstate.com/russvought/2011/03/09/house-leadership-let-obamacare-expansion-pass/
This day in 2011 was the day our republic died. The significance of this bill was that it exposed a willingness on the part of John Boehner and the House establishment REPUBLICANS to actually vote to EXPAND the very program they were elected by the American people a mere 4 months earlier to “repeal, replace, or defund”.
Two essential questions need to be asked regarding this vote:
1) Why in the world did John Boehner even bring this bill to a vote? (Was this a payback for a previous political deal?)
2) How did our respective Republican representatives vote?
95 establishment REPUBLICANS supported this bill as it eventually passed in the House. Sadly for those of us in Missouri, the Congressional Record shows that with the exception of Billy Long the entire Missouri Republican delegation voted FOR the bill. Among those casting a “yea” vote from Missouri was now establishment Senate candidate Todd Akin.
http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2011/roll164.xml
This vote was a canary in a coal mine. It should have served as an early indication to the American people that the Republican House we had just ushered in to power in 2010 had neither the political will nor the courage to stand on principle and fight to do whatever it took to stop Obama Care in its tracks. This lack of political will was later demonstrated throughout 2011 when this same Republican House cut deals with the Democrats to pass a series of CRs which raised the debt while funding the government through FY12. These 2011 CR deals funded early Obama Care programs, Planned Parenthood, the EPA, and a list of agencies and departments as long as Todd Akin’s arm that all Republicans will be campaigning against between now and November 6. Pledges and promises from any Republican who voted for the Obama Care expansion bill or any of the ensuing CRs (For the record – the CR votes implicate Missouri’s Billy Long as well) should be taken with a grain of salt in light of their voting record in 2011. House establishment Republicans extended a funding life-line to Obama Care throughout 2011 to get us to the point to relying on the opinion of a single Supreme Court Justice. So here we are, getting what we deserve because we allowed it to happen.
Contrary to the opinion of some, John Roberts did not kill our republic with his ruling on June 28 2012. It had been dead for over a year at that point, at least since March 8 2011 if not before then. We just didn’t realize it. We had put our trust in the newly elected Republican House of Representatives then went back to sleep. Although I do not agree in any way with Roberts’ ruling, we got what we deserved for putting all our faith in the Republican establishment in November of 2010 then going back to bed. Instead of insisting that the House use the power of the purse 1n 2011 to grind the government to a halt in order to force the Dems to come to the table to negotiate on Obama Care, we whistled past the graveyard as the establishment Republicans cut deals with the Democrat devils to fund Obama Care and increase the debt in order to support the goal of electing more Republicans in 2012, all the while hoping the courts would bail us out of the Obama Care mess.

Result: It’s 2012. Obama Care is now enshrined as the law of the land. The establishment House Republicans who played us for fools and voted to keep the Obama Care ball in the air by funding it in 2011 are running for re-election opposing Obama Care in 2012. Are we awake yet, or is the Republic truly dead?

Neil Woodley - July 3, 2012

Definitely “repeal and replace” with measured improvements to our current system. The two big points include competition across state lines and tort reform to lower malpractice insurance costs. Get the govt. and insurers out of the patient to provider path which empowers the patient. The massive government over-reach of Obamacare must be knocked down …once for all!

Kathleen Hall - July 3, 2012

I believe the major task is gaining support for the repeal of Obamacare is the in depth education of the general public about the truth of the affects it will have on our quallity of care, freedom of choices, unsustainable costs, distruction of the private insurance options that won’t be able to stay in business trying to comply with the government mandates, the loss of doctors who will leave their practices rather than be agents of the government, those who will die earlier because their age and cost of care will not be considered worth it by the government cost control panels. These facts need to be gotten across somehow, not in preaching to the choir or with the help of the news media, (ha, ha,) but straight to the public at large without a filtered distortion. How can we do this is the question? Please let us know the answer.

Robert Wertzberger - July 3, 2012

Mitch McConnell evidently said today that repeal is a huge undertaking and may not be possible.
We must repeal the law in its entirety. This law is the most suffocating law that’s ever been rammed through the Congress. Our entire future depends on the revocation of this law.

Dom Brunone - July 3, 2012

Can someone tell me:
(1) After the House passes the repeal of ObamaCare on July 11th, what mechanism(s) if any do Republicans have to foce the bill to a vote in the Senate?

(2) If the Republicans fail to win both the White House & the Senate in November, can the House still refuse to fund ObamaCare, since all spending must originate in the House?

am - July 3, 2012

When the wording was changed by judge Roberts that it was a tax it was not proper. You need to re-access. Start the articles of impeachment due to high crimes and misdemeanor. There should not be any wiggle room house of representative needs to vote before election……to do it now……don’t wait……..Please Obama has already gone too far don’t let him ruin this Country any further. We put these Republicans in office to help us and fight for us and hear our voices on what we the people want and I think we have said enough now it’s time for our leaders to stand up and fight aggressively not with soft voices, but to tell Obama and the Democrats that we will not stand for this and “Kill Obamacare”

Steven Haver - July 3, 2012

Allow insurors to operate nationwide; any desired policy design, as long as implications are clearly communicated to policy holders and financial soundness is maintained. Poorer risks, due to age and/or pre-existing conditions, handled thru premium subsidies.

Robert Hawkins - July 3, 2012

Educating the American people is the most important step. The “Average” American voter does not understand the importance of this issue. Also, as much as I have researched the issue, I still do not know how it will affect me personally. I am a retiree 68 yrs old on Medicare with supplemental coverage from my employer. I do not want to be on Medicare or any form of government insurance, but really have no choice. So, I and lots of other Americans in my same situation need to know how the Law will impact us.

curtis nunley - July 3, 2012

I honestly believe that if the Heritage Foundation opened this Obamacare Bill and exposed the hidden rules that the American people are not aware of, the reality of more control and rationed care will finally awaken this sleeping giant.

Ron K. - July 3, 2012

Everyday Heritage should pick one bad aspect of obamacare and tell what it is and on what page of the bill.
Do this every day and blast it out to the Heritage list and urge everyone to forward it on to all they can. An example would be the section that excludes the president and his family as well as all of congress from the act . List the page number where it is spelled out . Put the libs play defense everyday. At the end of the week, take out an ad in USA Today and repeat the seven examples from te previous week . Do it right up til election day!

M. J. Castro - July 3, 2012

Have Health Service Providers and Doctors come out as a group to show their opposition to Obamacare. We need people other than politicians railing against what a monstrosity this law is.

Rick Stoneman - July 3, 2012

Do not get caught up in distractive debate on Tax vs. penalty. Appears to me that CJ Robert’s opinion defined it as a penalty collectible thru taxation by IRS. (not an attorney) just how I read it. STAY on message to highlight all that is bad policy and clearly define specific alternative solutions for the most popular programs and that address majority of publics concerns on costs, loss of control, etc. Monic Crawley has it right. If one wants to control a population the first thing they do is to control your health care. If they do that they control your whole life. Obama is a truly scary dude. I do wonder if he had the forsight to know that this would crumble under its own wait, on the road to destroying the private ins. industry on the way to total gov. control, single payer system.

Rick Stoneman - July 3, 2012

Correction “weight”.

Paula Abbott - July 3, 2012

What do you think is the best course of action against Obamacare? Elect Romney! Repeal Obamacare. Carefully review, replace workable parts.

James Seppi - July 3, 2012

How can we stop Obamacare if he has made deals with teachers, unions, gov’t and private, and the people who will get the benefits at no charge and leaving people like me to pay there tab and mine. There are alot more of them than us and that is who he caters to.

John Smith - July 3, 2012

If we can get Romney to get the Fair Tax passed, it would help a lot, since it would basically get rid of the IRS. Combine this with the repeal of Obamacare and we will be in a lot better shape. Also, we need to find a way to limit the government on spending using a percentage of the GDP as a measurement. Giving the government no limit was reckless and stupid and should be reversed.

James J. Pecora - July 3, 2012

A. We must inform all the American people about all the negative aspects of the Bill and insist that our Congress and the new President repeal the entire Bill.
B. We must elect true conservatives to Congress this November. We need to increase their presence particularly in the Senate. And all of them should be held accountable before the election, even if we demand a pledge from them to repeal the Bill. It’s about time we have litmus tests for these scoundrels.
C. As it stands now, we need to make sure that Gov. Romney understands clearly that we are not in a mood, after the betrayl of Chief Justice Roberts, to listen to political pandering and wishy-washy positions of this greatest threat to our individual freemdom since the Revolution.
D. As a final thought, I believe that if conservatives should become a dual majority in the House and Senate, one of their actions should be to impeach the Chief Justice. This may sound drastic, but in light of his refusal to uphold the U.S. Constitution he has, in my opinon betrayed the very oath he took to protect and defend it for political reasons rather than to follow the Constitution. Without consequences for his actions, we adopt the same reasoning that led to his failure of character in time of great need. As long as he sits there, he will be a stigma to all those men and women who sacrificed their lives for liberty and freedom. It must not stand.

A.M. Watt - July 3, 2012

Since Obamacare was declared a tax, how can it be deemed constitutional as it originated in the Senate and not the House of Representatives?

Bill Mitchell - July 3, 2012

Tread lightly but be sure of your actions because we will likely have one real shot at getting rid of this. Maybe Heritage should start a drive to have Roberts resign, his opinion was absurd and a stretch in trying to PC … in the Supreme Court? What does he really care? The opinion was so political which he should he should be so far above. No one ever saw this coming which means we need to even more careful in the future.

Kenneth - July 3, 2012

Impeach him. He is not living up to his oath of office. He does not even beieve in the Constitution,

Charles Kelly - July 3, 2012

The first order of business is to focus attention on getting Obama out and Romney in. If that fails the rest is pointless.
Getting side tracked on issues other than the election is Obama’s greatest weapon. Focusing on Obamacare as the biggest tax hike in recent history is useless campaign rhetoric. In one ear and out the other. Inumerate the new or added taxes written into the law. Be specific. These are facts. Not rhetoric. “How many times” does it say “To be determined by the HHS Secretary.” How much of the law “remains to be written?” Given what we now ‘know’ about the law, hammer the fear of the “unknown”. How much damage can yet flow from her pen?
Yes, work needs to begin on repealing the law, but we have only 125 days left to defeat Obama, Let’s don’t lose the war for the sake of a skirmish.

Mary Jane Casablanca - July 3, 2012

i agree with all your action points, and I hope you will give us concrete steps in persuading our governors and state legislatures not to accept any funds for Medicaid expension, insurance exchanges, or any other “carrots” that may be dangled in front of them.

ronald.stokes@me.com Stokes - July 3, 2012

RW Hobert - July 3, 2012

Fred H - July 3, 2012

I believe that Obamacare should be repealed at all costs. And the an executuve order should be issed by Romney when elected suspending all laws regarding it’s implementation on his first day in office.

Charles Webb - July 4, 2012

Cloud obama’s eyes. Impeach holder. No doubt this will upset obama to loose such an ally and co-conspirator. This will get obama worried and thinking about his possible impeachment / jail time. Might get his mind off obamacare. While this holder impeachment is going on fight for the 51 vote repeal.

Richard Damiano - July 4, 2012

Gov. Romney has stated that the onlyl way left for the Republicans to defeat Obamacare now that the Supreme Court has spoken, is for Republicans to win the White House, retain the majority in the House and to win a majority in the Senate. But, in order to have a chance to do all that we must get our message across to the voting public. It’s not to early to tell the people what a Republican Health Care Act is all about. It needs to be specific, Being for Tort reform and allowing the people to buy insurance from anywhere in the Country is a good start, but we need specifics. I hope it can be presented in much less than 2700 pages, but, we do need details.

Hunter Comstock - July 4, 2012

If we haven’t already, we are fast approaching a time for a call to arms! How many more things must be crammed down our throats before we rebel?

Chari Baird - July 4, 2012

Articulate the free market way forward in health care in the mouths of Mitt Romney and the senators and representatives and those who have the microphones who care for liberty and the Constitution. Heritage must help them find the words, the phrases, that can be heard and understood. I have not the skill. You do. Since George H.W. Bush there has been no effective speaker-leader in the political ranks. Please, Heritage, give “them” the power of speech. Health care needs: free competition and exchange across state lines; torte reform; catastrophic insurance; true (real) numbers for the uninsured (who says it is 30 million? – who picked that arbitrary number? Must we consider an amendment to our Constitution to undo the precedent established by Chief Justice John Roberts – beyond and after Obamacare is repealed?

J. Teitsworth - July 4, 2012

I agree with all that Heritage is going to do in order to repeal ObamaCare but I also feel that we (conservatives) must keep in mind that this is not a level playing field. The opposing party will do whatever it takes to “fundamentally change” America no matter how underhandedly or unlawful. We must be ever mindful of the progressives schemes and stay a step ahead of them. More importantly we must repent of our sins and fervently pray for God’s intervention.

Lou Winans - July 4, 2012

I think liability insurance premiums are the number one cause of medical costs today. We need tort reform providing a cap on both medical malpractice and product liability settlements plus a lawyer-pays policy for frivolous lawsuits. We also need to let consumers shop around and purchase medical insurance from out-of-state insurers, and we need a line-item veto. And we DEFINITELY need to repeal Obamacare in its entirety.

John - July 4, 2012

The NY Times is saying that some states will see reduced Medicaid savings as a result of the health care law: http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/07/02/how-much-would-the-medicaid-expansion-cost-your-state/

What’s disturbing is the perception from some commenters who don’t understand that it won’t be business as usual, and that the individual mandate idea came from the Heritage Foundation in 1989.

Myrna Davis - July 4, 2012

If we are going to go after repealing Obamacare, we MUST have an alternate plan of action, perhaps keeping the parts of the law the the public wants, such as pre-existing conditions, although there should be a risk pool for those patients. If we don’t have an alternate plan, then repeal means nothing.
Also, I still would like to know why the attorneys arguing before the Supreme Court did not bring up the “equal protection” clause of the Constitution. Why is Congress, federal workers, the President, and union workers (through waivers) exempt from Obamacare, while the rest of us are herded into clinics and rationing? Where’s our equal protection, especially for our bodies and our health?

Michael - July 4, 2012

Andrew Gabany - July 4, 2012

A REPEAL of the entire Obamacare act is necessary; in order to preserve liberty for our children. It is best to use the argument that the individual mandate is a tax, since Justice Roberts gave that us that tool.

Nick Sowell - July 4, 2012

Defeat Obama in November !!!!

dick tash - July 4, 2012

all of the horrible “other things” in this Ocare need to be hammered. Taking over student loans, invading our bank accounts, death panels, no more doctor patient relationship, older people excluded from certain procedures, new tax on home sales.
It needs to be hammered home as a tax and an invasion of many of our freedoms.

Wes Potts - July 4, 2012

Repealing Obamacare is the right thing to do but Congress should also be prepared to offer a suitable replacement for reforming our health care system without violating our individual rights and religious beliefs. As you move forward developing principled solutions be sure to remember more government control is not the solution but in fact the problem.

Michael J. McNabb - July 4, 2012

Help States, organizations and individuals understand how they can apply for a waiver or opt-out.

Broadly disseminate the Heritage Healthcare alternative.

Vance Porfirio - July 4, 2012

The message we send has to resonate with enough voters to win. That being said we must demonstrate alternatives that show the people real health care alternatives will be there. Why not an a recovery tax on those who did not have coverage…we could eliminate or reduce their standard deduction on their income tax, tax credits, work credits, increase their, reduce theri unemployment payments for any medicaid or government provided health service other than pregnant women and infant children nutrition.

Thanks

We need leadership and human noise. Where is the outrage from those who we elected? We must keep the main thing the main thing. Economy and Obamacare are killing this sweet land of liberty.
Rally’s, demonstrations, marches, petitions, press coverage
This is the methodology of the left that has been so effective. “Occupy the Constitution”
We already have talk radio. We need action and plenty of it. Non relenting, around the clock “noise”.

Peggy A Stroud - July 4, 2012

Congress passed a health care bill based on the commerce clause. The Supreme Court this was unconstitutional. Congress never passed a health care bill as a tax or fee. The Supreme Court is not delegated authority to pass bills nor make policy. Until Congress passes a health care system based on a tax/fee, how can it exist or be legal?

William - July 4, 2012

I’m not sure educating the public is first order of business, people have decided, they don’t want this law and certainly not an additional tax. The more practical approach is work at repeal in Congress and the Senate because this a tax without representation. Wrong in so many ways. Second is state level ways to control their own costs and best for their residents. Third is elect a new president who will eliminate this unfair and flawed law by repealing it .

Raymond Bollum - July 4, 2012

repeal the whole affordable health care act. we need a bill to approve to make our health insurance portable, able to cross state lines and get the insurance companies to compete for our hard earned dollars.

M. Leager - July 4, 2012

Best course of action: replace Boehner and McConnell, and any that support them! They are weak, unimaginative, compromising (on key principles), and afraid. They care more for their political “careers” than fighting and winning based on principles of small (and shrinking) government. What miserable generals they would make: a reminder of Lincoln and McClellan! With a U.S. Grant in both houses we could recover our country. Without, we lose to the Democrat utopians and masterminds.

Jim - July 4, 2012

Find every opportunity to defund this horrible law. Get started immediately with daily telling every citizen how a replacement will help them as opposed to letting this monstrosity stand. Romney must lay out specifically areas of improvement over the “obamanonsense”. We must get the message to the “Obamalemings” that their is a better way to structure healthcare. Daily hit these people with the costs they will face if “Obamacare” is allowed to go forward. What impact will it have on their children forward. If we don’t counter Obama every day through the election, this scrofulous creature could have another 4 years to completely destroy 236 years of excellence. I am not willing to let this happen.
Lets get Romney elected and send “Obamacare” to the ashbin of history.

wessr - July 4, 2012

Besides the states refusing to set up exchanges, hopefully, a taking control of the senate and the executive will repeal.

But I’m troubled by my lay person understanding of Robert’s decision: if the main tenant of Obamacare is unconstitutional how does the tax make it constitutional? Or, in other words, how can you tax an unconstitutional law?

And if all else fails, an unconstitutional law should be ignored through nullification. The govt. ignores immigration laws, laws on the books, but we can’t ignore unconstitutional laws? We can, and should; the declaration confirms we should. We must.

Rose - July 4, 2012

Impeach him. He doesn’t believe in our constitution. He has his own. He vetos everything he doesn’t like & he
uses his executive power like candy for more things he doesn’t like. He is dishonest & unamerican, telling other countries their is nothing special about America. This gov. is so corrupted, & he keeps getting away with everything. WHERE ARE OUR FIGHTING REPUBLICANS – HIDING??????

susan - July 4, 2012

i think that the best course of action against obamacare is for the people of the states to get it on the ballot to vote to opt out of this tax mandate.

Randy Edwards - July 4, 2012

As you plan your strategy, you may want to revisit history to understand the health insurance market and why Obamacare was constructed the way it was. It may not be obvious, but the ACA applies to only about 50% of the health insurance market. The rest of it is the large group self insured market which has mostly been waivered out of the provisions of ACA. The history of the self insured market goes back to 1974 when Congress passed ERISA. This act included a provision in which allowed large groups to self insure their employee benefit plans. During the subsequent ten years from 1974, the health insurers lost this profitable business from its risk pools as large groups took advantange of the law. As the ACA was debated, did you hear one large group that objected to the bill? The problem now, that the fate of ACA has been decided by the Supremes, is that the remaining insured health market, only consist of small group and individuals, whose rates will probably need to go up 30% or more to keep risk pools solvent when the uninsurable start buying insurance coverage in 2014. If sufficient rate increases are not allowed by the Government, then the private health insurance industry will eventually have to go out of business when their cost keep inceasing faster than they are allowed to increase rates. Plus, there will be a huge financial burden on small business and individuals. I am a retired CFO of large insurance company who can speak from experience on this subject. What needs to occur to fix our health insurance market if Obamacare is repealed in the future, is to also repeal the ERISA right granted large groups to self insure their business in 1974, force them to give up their employees back to the health insurers to put their premiums back in insurers’ risk pools and then make insurers have an annual open enrollment period for people with pre-existing health conditions as it used to be with most Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans prior to ERISA. Then there would be no need for a large Governement presence in the health insurance industry. Otherwise, the Government will have to take over the industry to save it from insolvency due to ACA. Also, it seems odd that the large self insured groups weren’t even made to pay a surcharge to go into health insurers risk pools to help pay for the uninsurable. Their lobbyists did a great job in DC.Thanks for giving me an opportunity to comment on this matter…….Randy Edwards

anne m erskine - July 4, 2012

Fight for repeal using the other four categories stated. The law is unconstitutional at its root and I will forever – FOREVER – despise Roberts and Republicans who had control of the government in the past WHO DID NOTHING ABOUT HEALTH CARE/ anchor babies/ voterID/ closing the borders, spending, welfare, tort reform, tax code overhaul, base-line budgeting, an ending CZARS!

Brooklyn Jim - July 4, 2012

So far I have read about the 2 or 3 good things in Obaracare. What I would like to see is a list of bullit points (6 to 10) of the negative or potentially unpopular items if they were known by the general public.. In a 2500 page bill there must be a whole host of rules or hidden taxes that would outrage most Americans if they were shown in a comprehensive list.

Suz - July 5, 2012

Chief Justice Roberts has, rightly or “leftly”, whacked the issue back into the People’s Court: We must now make sure we elect representatives who truly represent our views.

Steven Rankens - July 5, 2012

FIRST THING IS TO REPLACE OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Second thing is to elect new conservative Republican Senators, get rid of the stonewalling democrats, replace the RHINO Republican’s and gain a majority in the Senate. The repeal of the law is easy after that. This new law is going hit the middle class. Take my example: based on what I make annually I will have to pay 2000 to 3000 dollars to get this health-care, “no tax on the middle class”, that’s a lie. My capital gains tax will go from 15% to 23.8% to pay for this mistake! It’s amazing that this law was passed “For the people”, and yet I have no idea what is the law, and neither does anyone else! CONSERVATIVE AMERICANS, LOOK AT WHAT THIS ADMINISTRATION IS DOING TO YOU – BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION. THE GOVERNMENT IS BLOATED, FAT,
WASTEFUL, UNCONSTITUTIONAL, LAWLESS, HYPOCRITICAL AND TAXING THE LIVING HELL OUT OF EVERYONE. STOP THIS MOVEMENT IN NOVEMBER!!!!

Being an legal immigrant, I am totaly disapointed with our elected officals in Washington. The Republican leadership, has no idea as to what to do. It’s like they are in a cloud and they can not find their way out.None in the leadership positions have any courage to stand up to this marxist president and counter his lies. They should challenge him on every statement he makes. However, all they do is cower to him like little children. I love our constitution it’s the best written document ever written by man with the assistence of our Maker, the one who created all. What a disappointment we are to the founding fathers and to God.They unjustifiably recieve payment for their work and have shown nothing for it except more higher wages, healthcare and retirerment for themselves. Unlike the people they represent that now have to suffer under this new socialist/marxist regime which will control us from birth to death. Welcome my fellow commards to the new world order provieded by our elected officals and the so called Justices that do not act in accordance to our constitution.I came from the former soviet union and I see this country turning to that type of system. I jumped from the fire and in to the frying pan. Only GOD can help us now, so lets all kneel down and pray for his help.

Jeanette Nutcher - July 5, 2012

Response to Letha,
I’m thinking the same thing; tax increases need a 2/3 majority vote and should originate in the House. Obamacare got 51 senate votes. How can you write a law, then call it a tax which could NOT have passed and is ilegitimately enacted.

Throw the law and those who voted it for out

Jack Leishear - July 5, 2012

Abolish Obamacare and replace it with Medicare for everyone over the age of 25. It’s working for those over 65, why not bring in the younger folks, with thier premium payments and lower medical needs, which will go a long way toward making it sustainable.

Joan - July 5, 2012

Heritage is doing a good job in educating Congress and the public. We citizens need to continue to read the information Heritage publishes and to contact our Senators and Representatives with that information and our desire to Repeal ObamaCare.
I still wonder if the best course would be health insurence bought by the individual as we do in home and auto insurence. That way it would be portable even if one changes jobs or starts a home business.

Wayne Peterkin - July 5, 2012

Replace Obama, change control of the Senate to castrate Harry Reid’s control, and repeal it using reconciliation if necessary. Obviously, the Republicans must also retain control of the House.

ken - July 6, 2012

A recent editorial in the local paper extolled the virtues of Obamacare thus: It will provide care for 600,000 who don’t have health care and the Feds will pick up most of the tab.
We need detailed specifics that are not overly complicated to refute such broad, appealing and incorrect generalities.

Arlin R. Johnson, Jr. - July 6, 2012

Obama has dumped on the Constitution so often and so much, if he can not be impeached along with Holder and all the un-appointed Czars – then Congress and the Supreme Court are just meaningless groups costing America’s too much money in dollars and wasted time. Good heavens. Would George Washington put up with the communist sitting in the oval office? I doubt it. Where is the back bone of Congress? Perhaps the Green Beret should march to the White House and shut things down before Obama finishes off what good remains in America The Beautiful.

frances senesac volpe - July 7, 2012

Dispicable. Shocking and a motivating reason to become active to enact legislation that will mandate term limits for Supreme Court Judges, as well as all Congresssmen and woman, all Senators, all elected officials. They are not above the law, nor are they superior to anyone else in this life.
Disgusted Fran

Marc A. Brassard - July 7, 2012

Republicanism need to come up with a med. insurance plan. Age 26 and per existing conditions should stay. Create insurance compatition to by across state lines and lawsuits reform to bring down cost which is the number one value of obamacare. And keep it a pure medical bill. No pork or any other bill attachment. Separate out the TURE uninsured excluding illigal Aliens. Get the inurance companies to help define risk pool. My good physical condition insurance should not be the same cost as an obese persons.

Kenneth R White - July 7, 2012

We need Republican control of both house for a few years to dump this junk. Obamacare is right up there with the Molasses Act, Stamp Act, and so on. The American people need 150 new federal agencies to control their healthcare like they need a hole in the head. Obamacare is based on huge and extensive lies. It is ideologically compatible with the thugs in the Obama crew, we can see that clearly, but not with Americans.

Allan - July 9, 2012

Education, repeal, and states rights are all great, but they really don’t do much to resolve the initial problem and that is health care is running rampant. What I suggest now is only an idea to work at the root cause and that is to repeal Obamacare and out law the 3rd party payer system of health care we now have. Until this is done and the free market place is allowed to regulate the industry through demand and supply medical costs will continue to outstrip inflationary costs by margins of two or three times. I know this sounds radical, but think about it. If someone else pays for something, we the consumer, will consume more. It is just human nature. Let the market place help to bring the cost of dying in America back to something we can afford.

fred - July 13, 2012

Where, specifically, does it state, “there is no cancer treatment available after the age of 76.” I am not arguing, I just want to know if it is really in there! Thanks.

mark - September 2, 2012

Follow and honor the constitution first…..this WILL expose all the illegal aspects of this…… bill(and the president) and better honor the citizen taxpayer. How can the media continue down this path of ignorance and misrepresentation? America deserves far better. We have the technology TBTG

Alan Hayes - September 9, 2012

I was told that the scary parts of Obamacare to the
adverage voted would be detailed on this website so that
they can be downloaded and printed for distribution
(handed out) to others. I think that we could win the
election on this truth alone but haven’t seen the printable
form.
Also many still believe that the libs will “help the little guy”. One way to fight back is to get black people to
realize that Obama is blocking the Charter Schools
that will help them and other disadvantaged to get a solid education.
The idea that Bush policies started the current financial mess is also hurting us. I almost never hear about Clinton’s Community Reinvestment Act that forced
Banks to make bad loans and the fact that the insurer
of these loans, Freddy Mac and Fannie Mae , were
overseen by B. Frank and C. Dodd.
These point needed to be pounded into voted minds with
TV and internet ads.
I owe you a check. Sorry.
My money has been going to the Republican Party Of Wisconsin.
Thank you for listening. What does it take to get the campaign to act ???
Alan Hayes
