American Medical News, a web site run by the American Medical Association, recently cited a Heritage Foundation report about how Obamacare will worsen the health care provided by Medicaid.
From the AMA’s article:
Medicaid patients continue to experience inferior care to those on private insurance, a situation that will worsen under the national health system reform law’s coverage expansion provisions, according to a report from the conservative Heritage Foundation in Washington.
Academic articles consistently have shown that Medicaid adults and children have poorer health outcomes and access to care than those on private insurance, according to the report’s author, Kevin Dayaratna, a graduate fellow at Heritage. Citing several studies, Dayaratna highlighted the challenges patients faced in obtaining timely cancer treatments and noted that survival rates were significantly higher for the privately insured than for Medicaid beneficiaries.
