This week and next, the Republicans and Democrats are gathering in Tampa and Charlotte for their respective party conventions. Estimates say each convention could attract 30,000 people–people focused on winning an election.
But there’s more to it than winning an election. Conservatives must win the war of ideas.
That’s why The Heritage Foundation has created a bipartisan Conservative Declaration based on the principles that have made America great.
The Conservative Declaration covers the core issues that should drive policy debates: the rights protected in the Constitution; private property; free enterprise; national defense; religious freedom; and limited government.
It’s based on the principles our Founders turned to when drafting the Delcaration of Independence and the Constitution. It’s not based on the needs of a candidate or any party.
Once could just see our nation’s founding fathers rallying to add their names to this document. As the GOP gathers in Florida, it’s time for the people of this nation to rally around a platform of principle, a platform that can get America back on track—not just win an election.
Americans don’t have much influence over party platforms — but you do have the power to rally behind the Conservative Declaration.
