The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation on Tuesday awarded Heritage President Ed Feulner the Truman-Reagan Medal of Freedom.
In a letter read at the medal ceremony, Czech President Vaclav Klaus praised Feulner’s work on behalf of international freedom. Czech newspaper Ceske Noviny reports:
Klaus said that Feulner is one of the personalities whose ideas and social activities allowed for the ideas of freedom and democracy to become part of practical politics and to lead the free world to victory over communist totalitarianism.
The memorial foundation also posthumously awarded a medal to Czech dissident Milada Horakova, who was executed by Communist authorities in 1950.
Previous medal winners include Pope John Paul II, former Czech President Vaclav Havel and former Polish President Lech Walesa, whose work contributed to the collapse of Communism.
