Community Committees
for Heritage
The Community Committees for Heritage are organizations comprised of local leaders committed to The Heritage Foundation’s conservative mission of expanding freedom, opportunity, prosperity and civil society. Committees currently exist in 6 communities around the US, with more planned for 2007 and 2008.
Responsibilities
At the invitation of Heritage’s President, Ed Feulner, these members are asked to undertake two key responsibilities:
- Raise awareness and extend the impact of Heritage’s work with constituents, policymakers and the media in their area
- Encourage support for Heritage in their community, particularly through membership in the President’s Club
Activities
The manner in which the Community Committees for Heritage undertake these responsibilities may include:
- Identifying friends and colleagues who may be interested in joining The Heritage Foundation
- Inviting potential supporters to Heritage events in the area
- Hosting or participating in local events
- Distributing Heritage materials and introducing Heritage experts to influential local constituencies, such as leaders in media, business, education, and religion
- Communicating the Heritage message on specific issues to the local community (letters to the editor, radio call-in shows, etc.)
- Financially supporting The Heritage Foundation
Mission
The mission of the Community Committee for Heritage is to extend the influence of conservative ideas and principles in the local area, and to support Heritage’s Mission and Vision for America, by recruiting new members to the President’s Club and moving Heritage’s policy recommendations forward with local policymakers and their influencers.
