Lady Thatcher makes a surprise visit to Heritage
Allison Center for Foreign Policy Studies Director Helle Dale and Vice President of External Relations Becky Norton Dunlop chat with former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on Wednesday at Heritage.
Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher paid an unexpected visit to The Heritage Foundation yesterday after attending the funeral of her long time friend and ally, former Secretary of Defense Casper Weinberger.
Lady Thatcher met with senior managers to discuss Heritage’s mission, principles, and methodology. She also met with Helle Dale, director of the Douglas and Sarah Allison Center for Foreign Policy Studies, Nile Gardner, a former colleague of Lady Thatcher’s and the Bernard and Barbara Lomas Fellow at Heritage’s Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom, and John Hulsman, a senior research fellow in the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Institute for International Studies.
The Thatcher Center was founded last fall to carry on Lady Thatcher’s legacy of spreading freedom and opportunity and strengthening ties between Britain and the United States. The Center was made possible by a generous $3 million gift from the Margaret Thatcher Foundation.
