2005 annual summary
Message
Nationally syndicated radio host Sean Hannity broadcasts his show live from Heritage's studios in November.
In promoting our message of freedom, opportunity, prosperity and civil society, The Heritage Foundation has always engaged the media. In 2005, we accomplished this in several ways:
-
Our analysts made 20 appearances on the top-rated cable news program, “The O’Reilly Factor,” reaching about 3 million viewers per show.
- On the “Big Three” networks (ABC, CBS and NBC), which still attract the most viewers, Heritage analysts appeared more than 30 times—reaching between 6 million and 10 million viewers per appearance.
- A handful of Heritage experts emerged this year as their own mini-media companies with regular columns, books, radio shows and TV appearances. For example, Heritage President Ed Feulner regularly contributes to Investor’s Business Daily’s “Brain Trust” feature. He also writes a weekly column that appears on CNSNews.com and the Chicago Sun-Times.
- James Carafano, our Senior Fellow for national security affairs, appeared on television and radio an average of four times a week. Another media star was Nile Gardiner, our Bernard and Barbara Lomas Fellow, who was featured in 142 radio and television interviews in 2005.
In all, Heritage analyst appeared on radio or television an average of 30 times each week in 2005, representing your views to the American public. |
